Privacy policy
Last updated: 31 October 2026
This policy explains what the Barq mobile app and the BarqHR web system collect, why, and the choices you have. In short: your employer gives you the account, we use your data to run HR for your employer, and we never sell it or use it for advertising.
Who we are
BarqHR, based in Jordan, provides the Barq mobile app and the BarqHR web system. Contact: support@barqhr.com.
Companies use BarqHR to run HR for their employees. Your employer decides what data is needed for your employment and creates your account. For this data, your employer is responsible for how it is used, and BarqHR handles it on their behalf.
What we collect
- Account and work data: your name, email, phone number, employee number, job and branch, as entered by your employer, and the attendance, leave, overtime, payslip and rating records created while you work.
- Precise location, including in the background: only between check-in and check-out.
- Camera and selfie photos: taken at check-in, check-out and overtime.
- Files you attach: for example a medical report for sick leave.
- Device data: a device identifier and a push notification token.
- Usage and crash data: how the app is used, and crash reports.
- Sign-in data: your session, IP address, approximate location worked out from the IP address, and browser or app details.
How we use it
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To record attendance, leave and overtime, and to calculate your pay.
- To send you notifications about your requests and your work.
- To fix crashes and improve the app.
We don’t use your data for advertising, and we don’t sell it.
Location
The app needs your precise location to confirm that you are at a work location when you check in. With your permission, it also uses your location in the background between check-in and check-out, even when the app is closed, so attendance stays accurate. It stops at check-out.
Your employer can see the location data related to your attendance. You can turn off the location permission in your phone’s settings, but location check-in won’t work without it.
Camera, face detection and biometrics
The selfie you take is used to verify attendance. The app detects a face on your phone, then uploads the photo to your employer’s HR system, where HR can see it.
Face ID and fingerprint unlock are handled by your phone. BarqHR never receives your biometric data.
How long we keep it
Your employment records are kept for as long as your employer needs them, including to meet legal duties. Your employer decides this, so ask your HR team about their retention period.
Some data has fixed periods:
- Ended sign-in sessions are deleted after 30 days.
- Audit records of changes are deleted after 24 months.
- Removed files are permanently deleted after 14 days.
- Former employees keep web access for 90 days after their last working day, then it is turned off.
How we protect it
Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Sensitive personal details are encrypted when stored, files are available only through signed links that expire, and access depends on each person’s role. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your password private.
Your choices and rights
- See your details in the app, and update your phone number, address and photo there. Ask your HR team to correct anything else.
- Turn off permissions such as location, camera and notifications in your phone’s settings. Some features won’t work without them.
- Ask for your data or account to be deleted: see data deletion.
Your employer may need to keep some records by law.
Children
BarqHR is for employees and isn’t meant for children. We don’t knowingly collect children’s data through the app.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page when the policy changes and show the new date at the top. If a change is important, we’ll tell you in the app or through your employer.
